Outreach & Missions

Interfaith Hospitality Network – We help shelter homeless families while they seek housing and employment.

ASP (Appalachian Service Project) - Week long mission trip for youth and adults that work with families less fortunate than our own in the Appalachian area.

Advent Angel Tree – We collect Christmas gifts for needy children in the Roanoke and Rocky Mount area.

DO YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?

  United Methodist Community Outreach Program, a Church and Community Location of the UM General Board of Global Ministries, is in need of volunteers for the upcoming school year. 

At Trinity U.M.C. 
  Tutors for all ages, kindergarten thru high school on Tuesday nights, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 

  Leaders for a small group for Christian Kids’ Club on Wednesday nights, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  (No preparation required; lesson plans and material supplied.)

  People to share a hobby or interest with a group of 8-10 children on Thursday nights, 6 to 7:30 p.m., for a period of 6 weeks  (Anything from babysitting to basketball)

  Youth volunteers to work with the Youth Director, Wednesday or Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

  Tutors to work with adults who are studying for their G.E.D. exams; times to be arranged.

  Drivers for a 15-passenger van or 23 passenger bus, any night 5:30 to 6 and 7:30 to 8 p.m.

 At the Satellite Centers, St. Paul UMC and West End UMC

  Volunteers for the Christian Kids’ Clubs on Thursday nights, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  (No preparation required; lesson plans and material supplied.) 

  Volunteers to work with the Youth Director at the new group for the satellites 

  Volunteer Orientation will be held Tuesday, August 29th, 7 p.m., at Trinity UMC; however you can “join in” after that date.  Programming will begin September 12, 13 and 14.
