Worship Schedule June 1 June 8 June 15 June 22 June 29 You are asked to read and study the listed Bible chapters and verses each week in preparation for worship. |
At this Annual Conference Bishop Charlene Kammerer will appoint me as your pastor for our sixth year together. She will also appoint my wife, Cheryl, to her second year as pastor of Fairview Church. This past year has been an interesting and hectic one for my family. Perhaps the biggest challenge Cheryl and I have faced this past year is managing the new reality of balancing the needs of two congregations! As you may remember we served two separate charges (two separate appointments with two churches each) when we first began our ministry, but this has been the first time in over twenty years that we have served two different congregations as senior pastors. Although I (and we) have missed her in our ministry here at South Roanoke, the people of Fairview Church have received her warmly and are responding enthusiastically to her leadership. We look forward to further opportunities in the months ahead when we can exchange pulpits on Sunday mornings and thereby visit with each other’s congregations. As we look to the summer I would invite you to a less formal approach to our worship. During the summer we give our choirs a rest from their regular leadership that they may be refreshed and ready to go in the fall. I will “retire” my pulpit robe for the summer months in keeping with the more relaxed spirit that the summer brings. As we recreate, worship, and serve this summer we seek the rekindling of God’s Spirit in our lives in preparation for the fall. I pray you will enjoy this season and that your spirits will find the refreshment intended for God’s children. Rev. Bill |

CONGRATULATIONS TO US!!! At the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner of the American Red Cross held on May 6, 2008, South Roanoke United Methodist Church was awarded The Good Neighbor Award. This award is presented to a company or group who has made a significant humanitarian contribution in support of the American Red Cross. With your support of our Lenten Offering you have made it possible for SRUMC to make a monetary donation to the Red Cross each year, plus you have supported a Blood Drive each year. Thanks to everyone for making this possible. This award is due in large part to the leadership of our Administrative Assistant Penny Haynes. Thank you, Penny! |
