By Baptism and Profession of Faith
If you are not now a baptized Christian, one of our ministers will be
happy to discuss the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism with you in
your home or at the church at your convenience.
By Transfer from another United Methodist Church
Simply mark the attendance registration sheet “Wish to Join” column.
A minister will then contact you. Or, you may ask, “Please write for
my certificate of transfer.” It is not necessary for you to write your
former church. South Roanoke Church will handle the details of transfer
for you.
By Transfer from Another Denomination
The process is very much like the one above. Since you have already been
baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated. You will be
asked to take the one vow taken by all persons uniting with the United
Methodist Church: “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church
and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your
service?”
Transfer of Membership from a Denomination that does
not issue
Certificates of Transfer across denominational lines
We accept your baptism, and will welcome you into membership by
Reaffirmation of Faith (renewal of your membership vows.)
How to “Join” without “Joining”
If you are a United Methodist whose membership is in another city or
state in your “home” church, you may become an Affiliate Member of
South Roanoke Church. This grants you pastoral care, fellowship in our
church, and full participation (including the holding of most offices)
here at South Roanoke Church. You will not be counted on our official
roll but on the roll of your “home” church. The minister here will
inform your “home” church of your Affiliate Member status
here.
Members of other Christian Denominations may elect to
become Associate Members of South Roanoke Church. The conditions
of such membership are similar to those for Associate Members above. |
