ANNOUNCEMENTS


WE WELCOME you to join us for Sunday morning worship at South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Our hope and prayer is that all who enter here will find the welcoming fellowship of God’s people, joyous worship inspired by the presence of the Holy Spirit, the faithful preaching of God’s Word, and the challenge to go into the world as bearers of God’s grace, love, and justice.  We invite those who have no church home to make South Roanoke your church and add your witness to ours. 

 *CHILDREN (AGES 3 through 5), may meet the acolyte to recess to Children’s Church. Please ask your child to line up behind the acolyte who will lead all children out together.  Children will not be allowed to leave the room until their parents arrive to pick them up in the Children’s Department. 

AVAILABLE IN THE NARTHEX: November/December Upper Rooms, Hymnals in Braille, individual hearing enhancement equipment, and children’s bulletins (ages 3-12). Please ask an usher to assist you. 

PICK UP A COPY of the Advent Calendar of devotions to use during this Advent season. This is a daily guide for your use. 

THE AFTERCARE SOCIAL CLUB will meet on Tuesday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall when our Boy Scout Troop will prepare dinner and following dinner they will play Bingo. If you would like more information regarding our Social Club, call bonnie dayton, 981-0237. 

THE NEW FLOWER CALENDAR FOR 2012 is on the bulletin board by the church parlor. If you would like to remember or honor a loved one by placing flowers on the altar for the Sunday service, please sign up on this calendar, or call the church office, 344-4437 ext. 10. The cost for both arrangements is $35.00. WE NEED FOLKS TO SIGN UP IN JANUARY! 

IT’S SNOWING! IS CHURCH OPEN? This decision will be made by 7:00 a.m. Sunday. Cancellation announcement will be made on:
· Television stations WDBJ 7, WSET 10, and WSLS 13
If there is no announcement, then we are open! Please remember that if church is closed, all church activities for that day will also be cancelled. 

THE LAST DAY OF 2011 that we can include your contributions to be credited to 2011 will be December 25th. Please don’t wait til the last minute to bring contributions to the church. 

THE JANUARY DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TRAINING EVENT will be held on Saturday, January 7th at Greene Memorial UMC, 402 Second Street, SW. More information will be coming soon. 

SOUTH ROANOKE UM PRESCHOOL is now a member of the Kroger Cares Program.  With Kroger Cares Gift Cards our school will earn 5% with every purchase you make at any Kroger grocery store or Kroger gas station.  There is no cost to you associated with the program.
     All you have to do to get started is purchase a Kroger Cares card for $5.00. Each card comes loaded with $5.00. You can recharge or “reload” the value of the card up to $500.00 at a time at any Kroger store.  You simply tell the cashier or customer services clerk that you would like to add money to your gift card, and then pay that amount.
