ANNOUNCEMENTS

WE WELCOME you to join us for Sunday morning worship at South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Our hope and prayer is that all who enter here will find the welcoming fellowship of God’s people, joyous worship inspired by the presence of the Holy Spirit, the faithful preaching of God’s Word, and the challenge to go into the world as bearers of God’s grace, love, and justice.  We invite those who have no church home to make South Roanoke your church and add your witness to ours.

*CHILDREN (AGES 3 through 5), may meet the acolyte to recess to Children’s Church. Please ask your child to line up behind the acolyte who will lead all children out together.  Children will not be allowed to leave the room until their parents arrive to pick them up in the Children’s Department.

WE WELCOME you to morning worship at South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Our hope and prayer is that all who enter here will find the welcoming fellowship of God’s people, joyous worship inspired by the presence of the Holy Spirit, the faithful preaching of God’s Word, and the challenge to go into the world as bearers of God’s grace, love, and justice.

AVAILABLE IN THE NARTHEX: The November/December Upper Room, hymnals in brail, individual hearing enhancement equipment, and children’s bulletins (ages 3-12). Please ask an usher to assist you.

THE AFTERCARE SOCIAL CLUB will meet on Tuesday, March 2, at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. This will be a planning session with pizza to eat. If you would like more information regarding our Social Club, please call bonnie dayton, 981-0237.

NEW WINDOWS: Folks are still buying windows in memory and honor of loved ones. To date we have sold 48 windows. The cost of a window is $700.00, and a brass plate will be placed on the window stating who it is given by and who it is given for. Just make your tax deductible checks payable to SRUMC and place them in the offering plate, or mail them to the church indicating they are for a “window”. You better hurry to get the window you want. All of the windows in the Wimmer classroom have been sold, three in the Pathfinders’ class have been sold, one in the Aldersgate class has been sold, and two in the Wesley class have been sold. The AA group who has been such a vital part of our outreach ministry is going to buy one in the Wesley class where they meet. There are still a lot of windows available in the children’s wing, as well as the music room. If music has been an important part of your life at SRUMC you might want to buy a window there, or if you have had children grow up in the church, one of the children’s Sunday school rooms might be nice for you to buy.

THE ADULT FELLOWSHIP GROUP will travel to Andy Griffith’s “Mayberry” Mt. Airy, NC on Tuesday, May 11. Our group will travel with Sunshine Tours for a one day tour to Andy Griffith’s birthplace, Mt. Airy, North Carolina. We will stop by the Visitor’s Center for a 10 minute video, memorabilia and other displays and collections. Then there will be a guided bus tour which will include: Granite buildings, old Mayberry jail, Floyd’s City Barber Shop, Andy Griffith Playhouse, Andy’s home place and a drive through the World’s Largest Open Faced Granite Quarry. No visit to Mt. Airy would be complete without a visit to Snappy Lunch, Mt. Airy’s oldest eating establishment, where you will be treated to lunch!. The bus will load at 8:00 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. Cost per person is $45.00. To make your reservation call Sunshine Tours, 1-800-552-0022.

THE ANNUAL ROANOKE DISTRICT LAY SPEAKING MINISTRIES TRAINING EVENT will be held at Northview UMC in Roanoke on Friday evening, April 23 and Saturday, April 24. THE UPPER ROOM CIRCLE is collecting stuffed Easter bunnies for CHIP once again this year. Please place bunnies in the basket by the office door by Sunday, March 14. Thank you!!!

FOR 2010 WE WILL NOT BE HANDING OUT INDIVIDUAL BOXES OF OFFERING ENVELOPES. In an effort to save money wherever we can we decided not to order offering envelopes for 2010. Offering envelopes will be provided in the pews for your donations. Please remember to put your name on the envelope so it can be properly recorded.
