This is a small but important part of our service because the greeters provide the first impression of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Starting in June, families or individuals wishing to be greeters may sign-up outside the church office. All that is required is to be at the front door 15-20 minutes before the start of worship. Please check your calendars and volunteer to be a greeter! THE RECENT TORNADOES in Missouri have created an urgent need for volunteers to assist in clean up and rebuilding. To coordinate our efforts, all volunteers interested in assisting in Missouri are asked to contact the church office for more information, 344-4437. THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN will have their Annual Salad Supper on Tuesday, June 10, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. You are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share. This is a wonderful time of fellowship for our women. LOCAL COLORS celebrates the cultures of the world on Sunday, May 18, in downtown Roanoke from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Local Colors is an award-winning celebration of the world’s cultures in music, dance, costume and cuisine. Our own Pearl Fu is the founder of Local Colors, and was named Virginia’s Outstanding Humanitarian by Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore in 2002. A variety of activities will be held on the historic farmer’s market throughout the day. You won’t want to miss this celebration. HEAR YE! There is hope for all of us. Dr. Walter Dickey has joined the Wesley Sunday school class.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: “To celebrate
the temporary is to carry a child on your shoulders instead of walking
sedately to the car. Roll with them in the grass and toss them in the
air.”
