We're glad to have all who have joined us for this time of worship. Especially to our guests and visitors, we welcome you to South Roanoke and to our fellowship. We invite those who have no church home to make South Roanoke your church and add your witness to ours. NEXT WEEK’S SERMON, The Ultimate Meaning of Life will be based on Matthew 28:1-10 and Colossian 3:1-4. Please read and study these texts this week. WE WELCOME Dr. Heedoe Ahn to South Roanoke Church this morning. Dr. Ah, Ph.D.. in Hospital Administration, is from Wonju, Roanoke’s first Sister City (1964). He is working as a V-P for Planning and International Affairs with Oryoung, Inc., a Hospital Supply Co., with offices in Seoul and Pusan, Korea. He is here in the he USA on a business trip. Dr. Ahn was a UMC Crusade Scholar1974-76, graduating with honors in Hospital Administration from MCV. From 1967-72, he was a co-worker with Dr. Roth at the Wonju Union Christian Hospital. Many will recall him from previous visits, when he ha attended services with us, and celebrated his love of the Lord in song. Dr. Ahn and his wife are proud parents of three distinguished daughters, and grandparents of seven children; the entire family is active in the Church. He is a Deacon of the First Methodist Church in Wonju and, until recent year, its Choir Director. It is an honor to have Dr. Ahn with us. NEXT OPPORTUNITY FOR WORSHIP: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27, 7:00 P.M. CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be no pot luck dinner this month, but everyone is asked to bring a dessert. ON HOLY THURSDAY we will celebrate the Last Supper with a Tenebrae Service in the church sanctuary. The service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Tenebrae (meaning "shadows"), an early eighth-century service, was once observed as an all-night vigil. Our service adapts it as an extinguishing of the lights indicative of the flight of the disciples following the Last Supper, and the darkness that fell over the earth as the Son of God was crucified. The music, A Service of Darkness by Dale Wood, vividly portrays the suffering, pain, ugliness and horror of Christ’s death on the cross. THE LENTEN OFFERING this year will go to the ASP Mission Project and the Agape Mission. The goal is $12,000.00. Anything received over this amount will go to local missions. Make your check payable to SRUMC and place it in one of the Lenten envelopes in the pew racks and then put it in the offering plate. PLAN TO STAY TODAY immediately following the morning worship service for the dedication of the Good Shepherd Columbarium and Memorial Wall. The service will be held in the Columbarium. Please exit through the outside doors leading to the parking lot and come to the Columbarium as quickly as possible. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: All efforts to destroy are vain - God’s Holy Word will still remain; so hammer on, ye hostile hands, your hammers break, God anvil stands. -Author Unknown THE CHURCH SANCTUARY will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29, for prayer and meditation. Please come anytime you like and stay as long as you wish.
