The District Superintendent has appointed Bill Clark to serve on the Board of the Henry Fork Service Center. As you know this is the community center in Franklin County that we assist every Christmas with presents for the children. Anyone who would like more information on this facility and it's programs is invited to contact Bill, 721-3340. They provide a pre-school program; after-school program for students; food pantry; clothes closet; summer playground program; and space for community meetings. Ongoing needs at the Center include the following: Nutritious snack foods; juice; birthday gifts for children ages 2-16 plus gift bags or wrappings; 39-gallon trash bags; paper cups; towels; toilet tissue; Lysol and Lysol wipes; first aid rubber gloves; first aid supplies. If anyone would like to contribute any such items let Bill know and he will get them to the Center. They have an unfinished shell-building at the Center, $80,000 debt, and an estimate of $150,000 to finish the shell-building. The community need is great but the Center's ability to expand programs and services is currently limited. A fundraiser is underway to sell engraved bricks for a contribution of $100 or more. Churches, individuals, groups (ie: MYF, Sunday school classes, UMW circles, Methodist Men) are invited to send a check along with the information you would like engraved on the brick to the Henry Fork Service Center, P.O. Box 888, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. |

RESCUE MISSION "WISH
LIST" |
Each month the Rescue Mission highlights needs for their ministry to the homeless, those recovering from addictions, and in the midst of life transitions. Please bring your contributions to the church and place them in the box outside the main office. |
We regret to inform the congregation that the walls and ceiling above the choir loft are again stained and peeling. Since the repair last summer the original source of the problem has finally been determined to be a steam leak in the heating system which is now being repaired. The Trustees will schedule painting sometime this summer and they appreciate your patience with this very difficult problem. |
I would like to thank the
congregation for their support throughout my recovery. Beth and I are
blessed by the friendships we have made here at SRUMC. |
The Church Office will be closed |
