Has anyone ever asked you what you believe as a United Methodist? Continuing through this month the series of sermons is designed to address our distinctive witness as United Methodists.
May 1:
We
Believe in Love that Makes It All Right We
believe so strongly in love because life is all about grace—the grace of
God. John Wesley, the 18th century priest of the Church of England who
began the movement that became our United Methodist Church, discovered the
grace of God in his own life and developed his unique insights over time.
He experienced the grace of God active in Christian life in three ways: These distinctive characteristics of the love of God through Jesus Christ is the unique contribution of Methodism to the Christian Tradition. As United Methodists we bare particular witness to the God who loves us before we are born, accepts us as we are, and molds our lives until love is again restored to the center of our hearts. When someone asks you, “What do you believe?” tell them, “We believe in love!” Rev. Bill |
